2019: We will never allow ex-Governor Dariye run from prison – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it would never allow a former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye vie for office on its platform in 2019.

The party said this while reacting to the news that Joshua Dariye, a senator from Plateau State, reportedly obtained Senate nomination forms for 2019 while in prison.
Yekini Nabena, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party told newsmen on Tuesday that he had not confirmed if a form was purchased for Dariye.
He said both the Nigerian law and its own constitution prohibited election of persons found guilty of criminal offences.
“I have gone to the list for Plateau State, I did not see his name, but if somebody has managed to collect the form for him, he will be screened out. There is no way he can contest on our platform.
“Somebody who has been convicted does not have a right to contest on our platform,” Nabena emphasised.
Dariye was jailed sometime in June for 14 years by an Abuja High Court for misappropriating N1.1billion state’s fund.
The former governor of Plateau state was found guilty of 15 of the 23 criminal charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud and money laundering when he governed Plateau State and has since been sent to prison. - Daily Post
