LAGOS, Nigeria — August 19, 2026: Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested social media influencer and entrepreneur Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” over alleged links to an international drug trafficking network following the seizure of cocaine reportedly worth nearly $28 million (£21 million) and allegedly destined for the United Kingdom.
According to reports, KC Luxury was detained at an airport in Lagos last week as he prepared to board a flight to Paris. The arrest reportedly followed an intelligence-led investigation into a suspected international drug trafficking operation.
The alleged cocaine shipment was reportedly intercepted before it could reach the UK, preventing a potentially significant quantity of the Class A drug from entering the British market.
The case has attracted considerable public attention because of the suspect’s profile as a social media influencer. His arrest has also raised renewed concerns about the use of legitimate-looking businesses, international travel and social-media personalities as possible fronts or links in organised criminal networks.
The NDLEA has continued to intensify its operations against international drug trafficking, particularly consignments being moved through Nigerian airports and seaports to overseas destinations. In a separate July 2026 operation, the agency reported arresting a Lagos businessman after intercepting 3.3 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside cartons of foodstuffs destined for the UK.
Authorities have not indicated that KC Luxury has been convicted of any offence. The allegations remain subject to investigation and, if charges are filed, judicial proceedings.
The arrest highlights the growing international cooperation required to tackle organised drug trafficking between Nigeria, the UK and other countries. UK authorities have similarly worked with international partners in major cocaine investigations and seizures, reflecting the scale and sophistication of the international drugs trade.
As investigations continue, authorities are expected to examine the suspected network behind the shipment, its intended recipients and any financial or logistical links connecting the alleged operation to the UK.
The case remains under investigation, and KC Luxury is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
