Police have launched a double murder investigation after two men were found dead inside a flat in Glasgow’s west end.
The victims, identified as Paul Lafferty, 50, and Gary Beaton, 54, were discovered at a property on Chancellor Street in the Partick area at around 4.40pm on Sunday, August 16. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Scotland said the men had sustained serious injuries, and subsequent investigations confirmed that they had suffered fatal stab injuries. Detectives are now working to establish exactly what happened and identify those responsible.
A significant police presence was reported in the area as forensic specialists examined the property and surrounding locations. Officers have also been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage as they piece together the events leading up to the deaths.
Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly, who is leading the investigation, has appealed to anyone who may have information to come forward. Police are particularly interested in hearing from people who were in the Chancellor Street and surrounding Partick area in the days before the bodies were discovered.
Residents have been left shocked by the incident, which has brought a major police operation to the normally busy west Glasgow neighbourhood.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, saw the victims, or may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact investigators.
The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives have said they are keeping an open mind as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.
