Brazil — August 19, 2026: At least 23 people have been killed in a devastating head-on collision between a bus and a truck in southern Brazil, in one of the country’s latest deadly road accidents. Early reports have given varying casualty figures as authorities continue to establish the final toll.
The crash occurred on the BR-373 highway in ParanΓ‘ state, near Ipiranga, when a truck reportedly crossed into the bus’s lane and collided with it head-on. The bus was carrying medical patients travelling towards Curitiba for treatment.
The impact was extremely severe, leaving the bus badly damaged and triggering a major emergency response. Two children were reportedly among those killed, while the truck driver was also among the fatalities.
