Serie A side Lazio are making a fresh attempt to convince Liverpool target Stefan de Vrij to sign a new deal by agreeing to insert a release clause of €28 million according to a report from La Repubblica, as quoted by insidefutbol.
They claim the Italian side are desperate to tie down de Vrij to a new contract and insert a release clause, as his current one expires at the end of next season when the central defender will then be allowed to leave on a free transfer.
Liverpool, along with Spanish side Valencia and Ligue 1 side Marseille are all interested in securing de Vrij’s signature during the current window, with Lazio admitting they would consider bids around the €20 million mark as they are desperate to receive a substantial fee for their player.
The Netherlands international would be open to a move this summer and is very interested in competing in the Champions League, something that is on offer this season at Anfield. - Read Sport
