Pre season match : Chelsea's predicted XI vs Bayern Munich

ICC Singapore Chelsea FC Press Conference

Chelsea will face what is likely to be their toughest test in pre-season as they play Bayern Munich on Tuesday in Singapore.

After claiming an impressive 3-0 victory over Arsenal, the Blues will look to continue gaining momentum for the upcoming season, and the possibility of overcoming one of the European giants of football will only bolster the side’s confidence and preparation.

However, after a heavy collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina in the first half on Saturday, Pedro has suffered multiple fractured bones in his face, therefore will miss the remainder of the tour, and head back to Cobham to recover. He should be able to train in 10 days with the assistance of a mask. Despite this, Alvaro Morata has now joined the squad in Singapore, and Antonio Conte has said he will feature against Bayern, although not from the start. Antonio Rudiger is expected to also join up with the team in the coming days.

On Saturday, it was evident that Conte was in favour of picking his strongest team for the first half, with rotation coming at around the 60th minute. With that in mind, it is expected that an extremely strong Chelsea side will start the game on Tuesday, as Conte looks to ensure the intensity and high fitness levels of the first choice team. Although, with the loss of Pedro, a surprise selection seems inevitable for the stern test of Bayern Munich.

GK – Thibaut Courtois
Had a commanding performance against Arsenal. Will definitely be called into action due to the strength of Bayern Munich’s attack. Will be ideal preparation for the upcoming season.

RWB – Victor Moses
Moses had a dominant display against the youthful left-hand side of Arsenal’s team but will need a sterner test to show he is truly the right option in that position for Chelsea.

CB – Cesar Azpiliqueta
Always the first name on the team sheet, and in a game of this standard, it will be no different.

CB – David Luiz
We saw a few signs of rustiness, therefore it is essential that Luiz gets as much game time as possible to ensure no defensive errors will be made by the start of the season.

CB – Gary Cahill
Now the permanent captain of the side, his leadership and organisation will definitely be important.

LWB – Marcos Alonso
Was extremely solid against Arsenal, and with even more left wing-backs being linked to the club, his role is under scrutiny so he will have to perform to an extremely high standard.

CM – N’Golo Kante
Along with Azpiliqueta, he’s definitely up there with the first names on the team sheet. Started from where he left off last season against Arsenal.

CM – Cesc Fabregas
His passing range never ceases to amaze us. Expecting more magic against Bayern Munich, and will be needed to control the game.

RW – Willian
Currently one of the in-form players in a Chelsea shirt. With Pedro and Eden Hazard both out, he is ceasing the opportunity he has been given.

LW – Jeremie Boga
After Pedro’s injury, some may have been surprised by Conte’s choice to bring the youngster on, but his performance was something to be admired. The directness of his runs and awareness of players around him have ensured that we think he deserves a place in the lineup.

ST – Michy Batshuayi
After his double against Arsenal, the manager has no choice but to let the Belgian continue his fine form. With the arrival of Morata, he will now face an interesting battle for a first team place at the club. - Read Sport
