Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is becoming increasingly frustrated by the Blues’ transfer policy, as they look to pursue Everton striker Romelu Lukaku over Conte’s preferred option, Torino’s Andrea Belotti, according to reports in the Daily Star.
It is believed that Conte is becoming frustrated with owner Roman Abramovich as he is set to back technical director Michael Emenalo’s choice of Everton’s Lukaku.
Conte is desperate for a star striker this summer as Diego Costa looks set to move on from Stamford Bridge, and both Lukaku and Belotti are valued in the region of £85m, which is the exact amount of Belotti’s release clause.
The relationship between Conte and Abramovich about new signings appears to be the main reason why Conte has yet to sign a new deal to stay in London, with a £9.6 million a year contract still on the table and has been since the end of last season.
