Chelsea forward Pedro has admitted that it would be a “very big loss for Chelsea” should they let their top scorer last season Diego Costa leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to a report on the Independent.
The two Spaniards have created a strong partnership in attack over the last two seasons and worked very well together for Antonio Conte on their road to the Premier League trophy last season.
“He is obviously a very important player in attack for us. He has scored the majority of the goals for us this season,” said Pedro.
“If eventually it is confirmed that he will not continue with us, it will be a very big loss for us. I hope as a player and friend that he can stay with us.”
But after the Italian boss messaged Costa telling him that his services are no longer required at the London club, the striker has looked likely to leave the club with the player indicating at a return to Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid.
However, they have a transfer ban which prevents them from registering new players until January 2018 so Costa could sign with them but be loaned out for half a season before returning to the Madrid club.
But Pedro hopes that any dispute between Conte and Costa can be settled as he wants his compatriot to remain at the club to give them a chance of successfully defending their Premier League crown as well as challenging Europe’s finest clubs in the UEFA Champions League.
