Everton make £40m bid for Gylfi Sigurdsson

Everton have made a £40million bid for Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to John Percy of The Telegraph.

The Icelandic star has been a reported target for Everton for a few weeks but Swansea have stood firm, insisting that they do not want to lose their best player. However, Percy says that the Toffees are hopeful that this lated bid will be accepted and that a deal can be completed this week.
Swansea are setting off to America today but Sigurdsson will not be travelling with them. Instead, he is heading back to Wales to hold talks with chairman Huw Jenkins, which will only give Everton further encouragement that he wants to make a move to Merseyside.

The player has apparently already said his goodbyes to his Swansea teammates as they headed off to the USA, so it looks like a deal could be close.
Everton have already signed Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney from other Premier League sides this season and it looks like Sigurdsson will be the next name added to that list.
